Ivory Durham was named D2Football.com National Offensive Player of the Week, the organization announced. This is the second time a Blazer has earned the honor this season as sophomore kicker
Estin Thiele earned Special Teams accolades following the first week of the season.
Durham, a native of Jacksonville, Fla., tossed a career-high six touchdown passes in a 55-7 victory at Miles College on Saturday. Durham finished the game 14 of 27 passing for 359 yards and no interceptions, while he had ten carries for 113 yards on the ground. Durham earned Gulf South Conference Player of the Week for his efforts also.
The six touchdown passes came within one of tying the school and GSC record of seven held by four players including two Blazers in Dusty Bonner and Chris Hatcher (2). It marked the 20
th time in GSC history a player has tossed six touchdown passes with the most recent being by Austin Reed of West Florida versus Minnesota State in the national championship game in 2019. Former Blazer standout Rogan Wells threw six touchdowns at Mississippi College on Sept. 29, 2018, in a 63-42 victory. Durham's 359 yards passing marked the second time this season he has passed for over 300 yards and the seventh time of his career. He had a career-high 415 yards passing against West Florida in the NCAA playoffs last season.
This season, Durham is 65 of 123 passing for 943 yards, 12 touchdowns and one interception for a 314.3 average per game, while he has 23 carries for 185 yards on the year for a 61.7 average per contest. Nationally speaking, Durham leads the nation in touchdown passes (12), while he is seventh nationally in passing yards (943) for tops in the Gulf South Conference. He is ninth nationally in passing yards per game (314.3) to lead the league and leads the nation in points responsible for (72). He also leads the nation in total offense at a blistering 376.0 yards per game.
For his career, Durham is tenth all-time in program history in career rushing yards with 1,959 on 233 carries with 22 rushing touchdowns, which is good for tenth in school history. He is sixth all-time in program history in passing touchdowns with 54, while he has 4,977 passing yards for ninth all-time in school history. He is 348 of 599 passing and 14 interceptions. Durham is fifth all-time in school history in total offense with 6,936 career yards on 832 plays.
