Heading into the final weekend of the regular season, the Blazers are 9-6 overall and 7-4 in Gulf South Conference play.  The Blazers currently are sixth in the GSC standings and have clinched a spot in the GSC postseason championship for the seventh time in the program's nine-year history.  If the conference tournament began today, VSU would travel to Lee on Tues., Nov. 12, for the quarterfinal round of the league championship.

Lee enters with a 13-3 record overall and a 9-2 mark in league play as the Flames sit third in the standings.  The Flames also have won their last three matches and have not surrendered a goal in the last 286:19 minutes since a 3-1 loss at Montevallo on Oct. 25.  The three goals allowed against UM tied the most the Flames have surrendered all season.

In the latest NCAA South Region Rankings as of Oct. 30, Lee sits second, while Valdosta State is just outside the top eight in the rankings.  Wins over Lee and Shorter and a strong showing in the GSC championship would really help the Blazers' chances for the NCAA postseason.  The top six teams in the final region rankings released on the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Selection Show on NCAA.com later this month will receive berths into the postseason.  The Blazers are looking for their fourth trip to the NCAA postseason and first since 2014.

Tennant was named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week after she recorded her first career hat trick in a 6-0 win over Union on Saturday.  Tennant also had an assist in the match, while recording six shots with four on frame.  Along with Tennant, sophomore Lauren Hicks had a goal and two assists in the match.

Lee enters the final weekend with a stout defense as it is 29th nationally and second in the GSC in goals against average at 0.620.  The Flames are fourth nationally in shutout percentage at 0.750, to lead the league.  Goalkeeper Taylor Green has nine shutouts for the season to lead the GSC as she is fifth nationally.  She is third in the GSC in minutes played (1367:55) and third in goals against average (0.658).  Riley Henry leads the team with seven goals and 19 points, while she and Riley Engels lead the team with five assist each.

The Flames own a 6-1 record all-time against VSU and have won the past two matchups.  VSU won 1-0 in Cleveland, Tenn., in 2017 for its lone win in the series.  Lee has outscored VSU 10-1 in the last two matches.

Nationally speaking, Lewis is 29th nationally and first in the GSC in game winning goals with four for the Blazers, while Tennant is third in the GSC and 46th nationally in goals scored (10) and fourth in the league in points with 25 for 47thnationally.  Tennant is fourth in the GSC in game winning goals with three.  Junior goalkeeper Caroline Embler is third in the GSC in save percentage at a 0.819 clip.

Tennant is second all-time in school history in career goals (29), while ranking second all-time in career assists (11) and she is first in career points with 69.  Her 25 points this season ranks second all-time in a single season, while her five assists also is good for second in school history for a single season.

Lewis leads the school record book with 30 career goals in her three seasons in Titletown.  She is second all-time in career points (66) and has six assists tying her for fourth all-time, while recording 13 game winners for her career.  She earned D2CCA All-Region honors last season and second team all-conference honors in 2018.  Lewis has one hat trick this season and scored four goals in a match in 2017.

Shorter enters the week with a 2-13-1 record overall and a 2-8-1 mark in the GSC.  The Hawks have gone 0-3-1 in their last four matches after going 2-1 in the previous three.   Shorter began the year 0-9 and have gone 2-4-1 since.  The Hawks will play at West Georgia on Thursday, before heading to Valdosta for Saturday's match.

For the Hawks, Bianca Martins da Silva leads the team with five goals, while Emily Lopez has 63 saves for the season as the team is averaging 6.56 saves per game for fourth-best in the GSC.  During the 0-3-1 streak, Shorter has scored just three goals and allowed 17.

VSU leads the all-time series with Shorter 6-1-1 and has gone 2-0-1 in the last three.  The Blazers are 1-1-1 against the Hawks in Valdosta and haven't hosted Shorter since 2016 in a 2-2 tie.
