VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State baseball team is ranked No. 19 in the 2022 National College Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division II Top 25 for week six, announced Wednesday. This is the first time the Blazers have been announced in the ranking since April 28 of last season during week 11.
The Blazers (17-5, 9-2 GSC) defeated Georgia Southwestern Tuesday evening and recorded a huge series sweep against Gulf South Conference foe, Shorter last weekend. The victory at GSW gave the Blazers their sixth-straight victory, marking the second time this season VSU has won six-straight.
Leading the poll this week is South Region foe Tampa, who garnered nine, first-place votes and 440 points. Wingate tallied eight, first-place nods and 439 points for second, while Point Loma had the final first-place nod and 405 points for third. West Texas A&M sits fourth this week, while Trevecca Nazarene rounds out the top five. Rollins sits ninth among other teams from the region, while VSU is 19
th. West Florida is among others receiving votes.

The Blazers are back on the road this weekend facing GSC foe Mississippi College for an away series in Clinton, Miss. The series is scheduled for a doubleheader on Saturday, March 26, beginning at 3 p.m. E.T., and will conclude with a single game on Sunday, March 27 at 2 p.m. E.T.
