INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The No. 2 Valdosta State softball team is again one of eight NCAA Division II South Region softball teams under consideration in the second NCAA Region Rankings announcement, released Wednesday afternoon by the NCAA national office.
Â
The Blazers are 32-3 overall and 25-2 in Gulf South Conference play and have won 21-straight games for the longest current winning streak in all of NCAA Division II.  VSU remained No. 2 in the newest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 also released Wednesday.
Â
Along with VSU, Gulf South Conference members Alabama Huntsville, Auburn Montgomery, West Florida and West Georgia also are under consideration this week for the NCAA South Regional.  From the Sunshine State Conference, Rollins, Saint Leo and Tampa are being considered.
Â
The term "Under Consideration" will be used alongside these regional rankings until the final rankings of the season when teams will receive the typical number rank to determine who gets a position in the regional tournament. This is due to the disparity of games played by teams this season with some conferences allowing non-conference play while others are not.
