Â
Rowdon got the game going with a hard single towards the shortstop and reached second shortly after a
Jowenrick Daantji hit. Rowdon found himself 90 feet away from home plate after a stolen base.
David Maberry drew four balls to load the bases which set up a deep sacrifice fly from Doskow to get the Blazers on the board. VSU couldn't take advantage when the bases were loaded as it left the first with two stranded.
Â
Georgia Southwestern got on the board in the bottom of the second off a wild pitch which opened the flood gates for the Hurricanes. After a runless third from the Blazers, the Hurricanes pushed four runners across the plate to take the lead with help from an RBI triple, RBI double, and RBI single.
Â
The Blazers battled back with an answer in the top of the fourth as Clotida led off with a firm single to the pitcher. Coker doubled deep down the left field line as the quick feet of Clotida helped lead him across home plate.
Collin Teegarden drew a walk and the pair of runners advanced up a base after they both stole which put two runners in scoring position. A ball-four wild pitch brought Coker home to cut the deficit to two which chased the Hurricanes starting pitcher away. The Blazers could only come away with two runs where it left two runners stranded.
Â
The pitchers took the game from there as Clotida was the only batter to record a hit over the next three innings before the Hurricanes were able to break things up. The team pushed two runners across off two hits in the bottom of the seventh to put the Blazers down by four. The Hurricanes forced a one-hit inning in the top of the eighth and fed into its lead with a trio of runs in the following half inning off three hits. The Blazers escaped danger though as the Hurricanes left three runners stranded.
Â
Teegarden and
