Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's tennis teams dropped its season-opener Wednesday at No. 25 Georgia College, 7-0.  
 
The Bobcats won all three doubles matches, taking the initial team point as Division II switched to the Division I format of doubles being worth one point for winning two of the three matches with the subsequent singles matches each being worth one point.
 
Emma Fleming and Kim Yatribi downed VSU duo of freshman Birte Langestein and sophomore Amelia Cornwall, 6-1. GC's duo of Emila Richter and Valeria Lopez defeated VSU tandem junior Estee Widdershoven and freshman Eva Rivoal at the top spot, 6-2, while the No. 2 position went to a tiebreaker with GC duo of Paula Garriga and Jordan Bowie edged out VSU senior Daniella Barta and sophomore Hera Bork Brynjarsdottir, 7-6.  
 
The Bobcats won all six singles matches with five in straight-sets.  Fleming downed Rivoal 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (11-9) for the win at No. 5, while Brynjarsdottir lost 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4.  
 
The VSU women's tennis team opens the 2019 home season Saturday at 10 a.m. at the VSU Tennis Complex against Nova Southeastern and will head to Columbus State for a match on Sunday.
