VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's soccer team head on its final road trip of the regular season this week, traveling to Christian Brothers and Union University. VSU and Christian Brothers are set for a 6 p.m. ET match Friday evening, while the Blazers and Union battle Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

VSU enters the week with a 7-6 record overall and a 5-4 mark in the Gulf South Conference. The Blazers sit sixth in the GSC standings as the top eight teams qualify for the postseason tournament. The Blazers have 15 conference points and hold a two-point lead over Christian Brothers and Delta State, while Alabama Huntsville currently is ninth with 12 points. Wins count as three points and ties are one point.
The Blazers are coming off a split last week with a 5-0 loss at West Florida and rebounded with a 4-0 win at Spring Hill. In the victory at Spring Hill, four different Blazers scored goals, as senior

Christian Brothers enters with an 8-5-1 record overall and a 4-4-1 record in the Gulf South Conference. The Bucs have dropped their last three contests, with setbacks to Lee (2-0), West Alabama (1-0) and Alabama Huntsville (3-1). CBU is led by Bailey Tadlock, who has seven goals and 11 assists for 25 points. Her 11 assists ranks fourth nationally and first in the league, while the 25 points is good for third in the league. She has a team-high 50 shots with 23 on frame and one game winner. Bobbie Williams is second in scoring with 10 points on five goals. She has 16 shots with eight on frame and one game winner. Meg Sander and Hannah Ward each have three goals and one assist for seven points, while Ashton White has two goals and two assists.
As a team, CBU has scored 25 goals with 17 assists for 67 points. The Bucs have 166 shots (.151) with 80 on frame (.482), while taking 58 corner kicks and recording 90 fouls. In goal, Riley Chafin has logged 1033:09 minutes, allowing 10 goals for a 0.87 goals against average. She has 55 saves and a 7-4-1 record with four shutouts and her .846 save percentage is good for second in the league. Mia Holmes has played 264:15 minutes, surrendering three goals with 10 saves and is 1-1 on the year. CBU is first in the GSC in save percentage at a .840 clip.
VSU leads the all-time series with Christian Brothers at 6-2-1 and won 2-0 last season in Valdosta on Senior Day. The Blazers began the series with five-straight wins, but have gone 1-2-1 in the last four meetings. VSU is 2-2 in matches played in Memphis, but has dropped the last two there. The Blazers have outscored CBU 14-9 in the nine meetings.
Union enters the week with a 2-10 record overall and a 1-8 mark in the GSC. The Bulldogs will host West Georgia Friday, before entertaining the Blazers on Sunday afternoon. Union has dropped its last eight matches and has scored just one goal during that stretch in a 4-1 loss the last time out. The Bulldogs went 746:07 minutes between scores and had two double overtime losses in the process.
The Bulldogs have scored six goals this season on 79 shots with 42 shots on target. UU has five assists and recorded 86 saves, while taking 31 corner kicks and allowing 80 set pieces. Three different Bulldogs each have two goals on the season as Holly Trisdale leads the team with 14 shots and eight on goal, along with two scores. Iris Seamster and Addison Dunn each have two goals, too. Jaya Wilson and Brooke Watson lead the team with two assists. Dunn and Trisdale each have game winners for Union.
Between the posts, Rylee Iorio has logged 608:42 minutes, surrendering ten goals with 49 saves and a 1.48 goals against average. Anna Venckus has played in 516:48 minutes, allowing 12 goals with 37 saves and a 2.09 GAA. The duo has combined for one shutout this season.
VSU leads the all-time series with Union 4-1-2. Last season, VSU posted a 3-1 victory Oct. 19 in Valdosta. The Blazers have won the last two meetings in the series and gone 2-0-1 in the last three matchups. VSU has outscored the Bulldogs 15-8 in the seven meetings.
Following the matches this weekend, VSU returns home for Senior Weekend, Nov. 7-9 as the Blazers host Lee and Shorter. VSU battles Lee on Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. and Shorter on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. to conclude the regular season.
