VALDOSTA, Ga. – Coming off the thrilling 90
th-minute victory Sunday, the Valdosta State women's soccer team returns to the road at West Florida and Spring Hill this week for a pair of Gulf South Conference matches.
The Blazers and Argos now are set for an 4 p.m. ET Friday afternoon in Pensacola, Fla., as the game was moved from 8 p.m. ET due to the threat of inclement weather. Following the game, VSU will make the short drive over to Mobile, Ala., for a matchup with the Badgers Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.

Ashley Lewis scored her sixth goal of the season on Sunday in the 90
th minute as the Blazers posted a 1-0 victory over Delta State as it was her third game winner of the season. The Blazers are 6-5 overall and 4-3 in Gulf South Conference play as they sit eighth in the league standings with 12 points heading into this week's matchups.
West Florida enters with a 5-3 record in the GSC and an 8-4 mark overall with 15 points for fifth in the standings. UWF is coming off a 4-3 loss at West Alabama on Sunday as it marked the Argos' second loss in the last three matches after winning four-straight prior. Before allowing the four goals to the Tigers on Sunday, UWF had allowed just two goals in its previous nine matches and went 7-2 during that stretch.
The Blazers had a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to No. 6-ranked Mississippi College last Friday evening as MC was awarded a penalty kick in the 106
th minute for a 1-0 victory. The red and black played an outstanding game defensively and had its chances in to pull the upset. VSU has won three of its last four matches heading into this weekend.
Spring Hill College enters with a 1-11 record overall and a 0-8 mark in the GSC. The Badgers have lost nine-straight matches and haven't scored a goal since a 5-1 setback at Lee on Oct. 11 for a span of 359:38. SHC will face West Georgia before hosting the Blazers Sunday.
The Argos have scored 31 goals with 26 assists on the year, while shooting at a .110 clip with 281 shots and 139 on target (.495). UWF has 128 corner kicks for the season and allowed just 24, while going 1 for 1 in penalty kicks.
Individually, Anita Danielsdottir leads the team with five goals and five assists for the season. She has a team-high 53 shots (.094) with 23 on frame (.434) and two game winners. Peyton Peffers has four goals and four assists for 12 points. She has 35 shots for third on the team and 17 on frame also ranking third on the team. Annie Rolf has four goals and three assists on the year. In goal, Esthefanny Barreras is 8-4 in 1017:36 minutes, allowing nine goals for a 0.80 goals against average with 19 saves and six shutouts.
Valdosta State is 1-7-3 all-time against West Florida with the lone win coming in a 2-1 victory in 2014 in the conference tournament. UWF is 3-0-1 in the last four matches and won last season in Valdosta, 3-0. The Blazers are 0-3-1 all-time at UWF, as the two teams played to a 2-2 draw in 2017 in the last meeting there.
Spring Hill College enters the week having scored ten goals for the season on 76 shots, while putting 40 shots on frame. The Badgers have four assists with 27 corner kicks and have surrendered 68 set pieces from the corner flag.
The Badgers are led by Sidney Spivey who has two goals and one assist for five points on the year. She has 12 shots with six on goal to lead the team. Olivia Odimegwu and Libby Durrough are second in scoring each with two goals, while Kylee Harrell leads the team with two assists. In goal, the Badgers have played three players as Hannah Linss has logged a team-high 538:35 minutes, allowing 24 goals with 49 saves on 144 shots faced. Grace Riley has allowed 13 goals with 15 saves, while Kira Babiarz has surrendered eight goals with 15 saves, while earning the lone win for the season.
VSU leads the all-time series with Spring Hill at 3-0-2. The Blazers have scored nine-straight goals in the series, including a 3-0 victory last season in Valdosta and a 6-0 win in 2017, also in Valdosta. VSU is 0-0-2 all-time in Mobile, Ala., as the teams last played there in 2016 to a 1-1 draw.
