ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Blazers faced the Tritons Friday afternoon in their first road test of the season dropping the match 2-1.
Both defenses held strong in the first half remaining scoreless into the beginning of the second. The Tritons broke the stalemate in the 51st minute when Ashley Nelson sent a ball into the back of the net to give Eckerd the advantage.
Just under two minutes later the Tritons doubled their lead with a cross from Freija Aflenzer tp setup Nelson for another goal bringing the score to 2-0.
In the remaining seconds the Blazers capitalized off of a set piece corner to break up the shutout. Anna Dandeneau headed the ball into the net with help from Kayleigh Kearns.
The Blazers will return home to face Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday, Sept. 9th at 6:00 p.m
