VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valodsta State women's soccer team looks to get back on the winning track as it continues at home this week with Alabama Huntsville and West Alabama visiting. VSU will face Alabama Huntsville at 7 p.m. Friday, while hosting West Alabama Sunday at 1 p.m. with both games at the Soccer Complex.

The Blazers are coming off a 1-1 record last weekend with a 3-0 win over Spring Hill and a 3-0 loss to then-No. 9 West Florida. Against Spring Hill, the Blazers had a pair of goals from junior
Ashley Lewis and she also added an assist for the game. Senior
Mallory McDaniel added the third goal. VSU is 5-3 on the year and 3-1 in Gulf South Conference play.
The upset-minded Blazers held West Florida to a scoreless game on a hot Sunday afternoon, but three scores from the Argonauts in the second half proved to be too much. VSU gave a great effort in the match, but came up short in the 3-0 loss.
Following the week, Lewis moved into first all-time in career goals scored with the two goals on Friday with 15 for her career. She has one more goal than junior
Riley Tennant who has 14 scores and is tied for second with Blakely McClellan. Lewis is tied with Tennant for the most career points as each have 33. Lewis leads the team with six goals, two assists and 14 points this season.
Tennant has two goals on the season and two assists for six points. Lewis leads the team with 31 shots and 18 on frame, while recording two game winners. McDaniel is second on the team in scoring with seven points on three goals and one assist. McDaniel has 12 shots and six on goal. Senior
Suvi Savolainen has wo goals and two assists for six points, while recording 11 shots with seven on goal.
As a team, the Blazers have scored 19 goals with 15 assists on the year for 53 points. VSU has 110 shots for a .173 average, while recording 62 on frame (.564) and has four game winners with an own goal. VSU has had balanced scoring with ten goals in the first half and nine in the second this season, while recording 53 shots in the first half and 57 in the second. The Blazers have recorded 36 corner kicks, while allowing 35 set pieces.

Samantha Blanford. Embler has played in six matches with five starts and is 2-3 on the year. She has logged 433:47 minutes, allowing six goals for a 1.24 goals against average. She has 22 saves and one shutout. Blanford is 3-0 on the year with a 1.57 goals against average in five matches with three starts. She has logged 286:13 minutes with 12 saves.
VSU has allowed 11 goals in 720 minutes for a 1.38 goals against average as it has recorded 35 saves with one shutout and a .761 save percentage. The Blazers have faced 93 shots and 46 on goal, while stopping one penalty kick opportunity.

UAH enters with a 2-6-1 record overall and a 1-3 mark in the GSC. The Chargers are 0-2 on the road this year. UAH won its last time out in a 2-0 home victory over Union (Tenn.) for its first conference win of the season.
The Chargers have scored 18 goals this season, while allowing 20. UAH has 101 shots with 48 on frame, 10 assists and 23 corner kicks. Melanie Brannon leads the team with six goals on 12 shots with nine on frame and two game winners. Gabby Westemberger is second in scoring with three goals, while three different Chargers lead the team with two assists each.
In goal, Megan Buford has started seven games, while logging 598:51 minutes, allowing 13 goals (1.95 GAA) with 62 saves and a 2-3-1 record with one shutout. Izzy Huddleston has played in three games logging 211:18 minutes, allowing seven goals (2.98 GAA), with 14 saves and a 0-2 record.
The Blazers lead the all-time series with the Chargers 4-3, but UAH has won the last two meetings, both in Huntsville, Ala. UAH blanked the Blazers 2-0 last season and 1-0 in 2016. The Blazers last won in 2015 with a 2-0 win on the road as VSU hasn't scored on the Chargers in the last 185:20 minutes of playing time. VSU is 2-0 all-time against UAH at home, while going 2-2 on the road and 0-1 in neutral matchups. The Blazers have outscored UAH 8-6 in the series.
West Alabama enters with a 4-3-1 record overall and a 2-2 mark in the GSC. UWA lost at Christian Brothers its last time out, 3-1, while willing at Union 2-0 in the match before. The Tigers will play at West Georgia Friday, before visiting the Blazers on Sunday. Prior to the Christian Brothers loss, UWA had won its first three road games of the season.
For the Tigers, they have scored 19 goals on the year with 143 shots, 73 on goal, 37 corner kicks and 13 assists. Conversely, UWA has allowed 11 goals with 111 shots and 67 on frame. The Tigers have allowed 24 corner kicks and seven assists this season.
Individually, TeMia Pride leads the team with six goals and two assists for 14 points. She has a team-high 2 shots with 15 on goal and one game winner. Anele Komani is second in scoring with 13 points on five goals and three assists. Komani has 26 shots with seven on goal and leads the team with two game winners.
In goal, Jenni Aamiva has logged a team-high 628:54 minutes, allowing all 11. Goals with a 1.57 goals against average and 52 saves. She has two shutouts on the year and faced 105 shots.
VSU leads the all-time series with UWA 5-1-2 and won last season, snapping a two game skid with a 4-3 win in Livingston, Ala. In that game, Lewis scored the game winner in the 97
thminute for the overtime victory. VSU batted back from a 2-0 deficit at halftime and a 3-1 deficit in the second half as now-sophomore
Haille Paterson scored two goals in the final 20 minutes of regulation to tie the match. The Blazers are 3-0-1 against the Tigers in Valdosta, while going 2-1-1 on the road. VSU has outscored UWA 16-13 in the series.
Following the matches, the Blazers return to the road to open the month of October and will play five of the final seven games of the regular season on the road. VSU closes the home slate Oct. 19-21 with Union and Christian Brothers visiting the Soccer Complex.
