VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's soccer team returns to the road for a match at West Georgia Sunday at 1 p.m. in Carrollton, Ga. The Blazers are 6-4 on the year and 4-2 in Gulf South Conference play, while West Georgia is 4-5-2 and 4-2 in league play.
VSU is coming off a disappointing overtime loss to West Alabama last Sunday as the Tigers won with a golden goal in the 94
thminute for a 3-2 victory. VSU junior
Ashley Lewis scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the match, but two scores from TeMia Pride proved to be too much in the loss.

Undefeated No. 4-ranked West Florida leads the conference standings with a 6-0 record as the Argos are a perfect 10-0 on the year. Mississippi College is second with a 5-0 record and a 7-1 mark overall, while there is a four-way tie for third between Christian Brothers, West Alabama, VSU and West Georgia. All four teams have 12 conference points as teams get three points for a conference victory and one for a conference tie.
For the season, the Blazers have scored 22 goals on 145 shots (.152) with 79 shots on goal (.545) and 17 assists. VSU has 45 corner kicks and is 1 for 1 in penalty kicks with sophomore

Caroline Embler is 3-4 in eight games with seven starts. She has logged 620:12 minutes, allowing nine goals (1.31 GAA) with 37 saves for a .804 average, along with two shutouts.
Nationally speaking, the Blazers are third in the GSC in shutout percentage (.400), total assists (17) and fourth in assists per game at a 1.7 clip. Individually, Lewis is second in the league and 19

thnationally and third in the league in total goals (8). She is third in the league in points (18) for 39
thnationally. She is fourth in the league in both goals per game (0.8) and points per game (1.8).
West Georgia is coming off a 2-0 loss on Wednesday to No. 21 North Georgia. The Wolves have scored 18 goals on 152 shots (.118) with 64 shots on frame (.421) this season and recorded 15 assists. UWG has 45 corner kicks this season. Conversely, the Wolves have allowed ten goals on 193 shots (.091) with 79 on frame (.409) and ten assists, while allowing 52 corner kicks.
Individually, Hillary Resendiz leads the team with seven points on three goals and one assist, while six different players each have two goals. Jazmine Santiago is second in scoring with two goals and two assists for six points, while leading the team in shots with 26. Madison Cobb has five points with a team-high ten shots on frame.
Between the posts, Jackie Donaldson has played every minute of the season, logging 1030:57 minutes, allowing ten goals (0.87 GAA) with 68 saves and a .872 average. She is 4-5-2 on the year with three shutouts.
Donaldson is seventh nationally in minutes played to lead the GSC, while ranking 15

West Georgia leads the all-time series 4-3-2 and has won the last three meetings, including a 3-1 win in Valdosta last season and a 2-1 win there in 2016. UWG won the last meeting in Carrollton in 2015 with a 2-1 win. The series is tied 1-1-1 in Carrollton and in. Valdosta 2-2-1, while UWG won the one neutral matchup in 2012 in the GSC Tournament, 1-0. Both teams have scored ten goals in the series.
Following the match, VSU continues on the road at Delta State and Mississippi College next weekend, before returning home for the regular season home finale Oct. 19 and Oct. 21 against Union and Christian Brothers, respectively.
