VALDOSTA, Ga. – Representing the No. 15 team in the latest NCAA Division II rankings, the Valdosta State women's tennis team enters the Gulf South Conference Tournament on Thursday as the No. 2 seed in the tournament with a first round matchup against No. 7 Delta State at 2:30 p.m. EST in Montgomery, Ala.
The Lady Blazers are currently riding a six-match winning streak against conference opponents and an 11-2 record overall. With the help of 2014 GSC Freshman of the Year
Sabrina Schmidt, who finished the regular season at 10-3 in singles action and 12-6 in doubles play, Valdosta State has an 11-7 overall record and an 8-2 record against GSC opponents this season.
West Florida represents the team to beat yet again in 2016 and currently holds an unprecedented 65-match winning streak in conference play. Ranked No. 6 in the nation, the Argonauts enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed with a 19-5 record overall and a 10-0 stint in conference play.
