Valdosta State fell in an early hole after
Bea Morales Hernandez and
Josephine Jedrychowski dropped an 8-1 matchup against Ana Pain and Sonja Larsen at No. 1 doubles, before Barry's Emma Onila and Zuza Maciejewska teamed up to defeat
Laura Ubeda and
Sabrina Schmidt 8-4 at No. 2. Barboara Kijasova and Alisa Rudenko overtook
Daniella Barta and
Anke Poncelet 8-6 to close out doubles play.
The 3-0 deficit widened as Maciejewska beat Morales Hernandez 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, and Larsen kept momentum going for the Bucs with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ubeda at No. 2. The No. 3 singles matchup also ended in favor of Barry, with a 7-5, 6-2 win for Onila over Jedrychowski, followed by a 6-3, 6-4 win for Pain over Schmidt at No. 4.
Valdosta State picked up their two victories at No. 5 and No. 6 with a 7-5, 6-7 (3-7), 11-9 win for Poncelet over Kijasova and a 6-4, 3-6, 10-4
Joanna Lario victory over Rudenko.
Next up for the Lady Blazers, it's an 11:00 a.m. matchup against Rollins on Sunday in Winter Park, Fla.
