VALDOSTA, Ga. - The No. 9 Lady Cougars of Columbus State outlasted the Valdosta State Lady Blazers on Wednesday afternoon to take a 5-2 victory at the Valdosta State Tennis Courts in Valdosta, Ga.
The Lady Blazers fell to 9-11 after the defeat, while CSU improved to 16-2 overall.
The Lady Cougars claimed two of three matches in doubles play on the day, starting with an 8-4 victory for Beatriz Leo and Giorgia Vitale over
Jennifer Rink and
Anke Poncelet at No. 1.
Bea Morales Hernandez teamed up with
Joanna Lario at No. 2 to outperform Camila Tobar and Olivera Tadijin 8-5 at No. 2, but VSU was forced to surrender another point at No. 3 by way of forfeit.
In singles action, Rink claimed another singles victory at No. 2 over Vitale, but Tobar cruised past Lario at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-1 victory, and Saravinder Pannu closed out the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5.
Valdosta State returns to action on Friday with a 2:00 p.m. matchup against Armstrong Atlantic on the road in Savannah, Ga.
