Jennifer Grubbs has gained wide-ranging experience throughout more than two decades in collegiate athletics as either a coach or administrator. Currently the Associate Athletics Director, Senior Woman Administrator (SWA), and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at Valdosta State University, Grubbs is jointly responsible for oversight of VSU’s 12 intercollegiate sports in conjunction with the Director of Athletics.
In her role, Grubbs focuses on student-athlete development in addition to advising the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), coordinating department-wide community service, assisting recruitment and hiring of department personnel and more.
An active member of Women Leaders in College Sports (formerly NACWAA) and a graduate of Women Leaders in College Sports/NCAA Institute for Administrative Advancement (IAA) and Leadership Enhancement Institute (LEI), Grubbs directs collaboration among coaches, academic advisors, administration, university faculty and staff, and others.
Her most recent initiatives include a Care Team in association with the university’s Director of Counseling and VSU’s Certified Athletic Trainers to address mental health issues, a faculty/staff mentorship program for student-athletes, and a Perspectives on Leadership class for freshman student-athletes.
In 20+ years as a collegiate coach, Grubbs was part of two NCAA regional finals, seven NCAA tournament appearances, 14 conference tournament appearances, the first conference championship for Lady Blazer basketball since 1984, and led Kansas Wesleyan to an NSCAA National Championship.
Grubbs earned her Bachelor of Arts in history education from Kansas Wesleyan University and a Master of Education in sport administration from Wichita State University. In 2010, Grubbs married Scott Grubbs and they reside in Valdosta, Ga.
