DALLAS, Tex. - Valdosta State starting pitcher Drake LaRoche swept the weekly awards, as he earned National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) NCAA Division II Pitcher of the Week honors on Thursday morning. 

Following a stat correction, LaRoche threw six no-hit innings on Sunday afternoon, as the Fort Scott, Kan. native fanned six batters and walked zero on a total of 56 pitches and 19 batters faced. The Blazers earned their first win of the 2025 campaign in an 11-0 rout of the Rollins Tars.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.

Valdosta State is back in action tomorrow, as they host Embry-Riddle for the home opener with first pitch being at 5 p.m. at Billy Grant Field followed by a 1 p.m. game on Saturday and 12 p.m. game Sunday.
