VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's soccer team had four student-athletes named to the All-Gulf South Conference Second Team, announced Friday by the league office. Senior defender
Taylor Morris earned all-conference honors for the third time, while junior forward
Molly Wooldridge earned honors for the second time and junior forward
Ana Moleka along with senior defender
Samantha Worley were first time selections.
Morris, a native of Colquitlam, B.C., Canada, is the third Blazer women's soccer player to earn All-GSC honors at least three times, along with former standouts Riley Tennant (2017-2019) and Abbi Edwards, who earned the honor four times (2011-2014). Morris earned second team honors in 2021, 2022 and 2023, while Tennant earning second team honors three times also. Edwards earned second team honors three times and first team accolades in 2012.
This season, Morris is just one of two players to have started all 17 games this season. She has one assist for the year with 15 shots and seven on target from her defensive position. Morris has helped lead the Blazers to an 8-5-4 record overall and a 6-5-2 mark in the GSC earning the No. 6-seed in the GSC Championship this weekend. She has played 58 games for her career with two goals and six assists for ten points.
Wooldridge, a native of Kennesaw, Ga., became the tenth different Blazer to earn multiple all-conference honors as she earned second team accolades in 2021. She also was named GSC Freshman of the Year in 2021. This season, she is second on the team in scoring this season with seven goals, three assists and 17 points. She has a team-high 44 shots (.159) with 24 on target (.545) and three game winners to lead the team…She has logged 1123 minutes for fourth on the team, while playing in all 17 matches with 11 starts…Named GSC Player of the Week honors once this season, Wooldridge is third in the GSC in game winners (3) for 54
th nationally, while she is second in the league in SOG percentage at a .545 clip. In addition, she is tied for fifth in the league in total goals (7) and seventh in the league in points (17).
For her career, she has played in 52 matches with 42 starts, logging 21 goals and six assists for 48 points. She has 109 shots (.193) with 56 on goal (.514) and seven game winners for her career.
Moleka, a native of Buford, Ga., has another year of eligibility in 2024, leads the team with seven goals, four assists and 18 points. She has 25 shots (.280) with 16 on frame (.640) and one game winner. Moleka has played in all 17 games with 14 starts and logged 853 minutes this season. She registered a hat trick with three goals in the season-opener at Clayton State for the ninth hat trick in program history and the seventh different Blazer to do so. She earned GSC Player of the Week honors for her efforts that week as she currently is fourth in the GSC in total points (18) and tied for fifth in total goals (7).
She transferred to VSU from Appalachian State in 2022 and has played in 28 matches with 17 starts, scored seven goals and four assists for 18 points, while recording 28 shots (.250) with 17 on target (.607) and one game winner.
Worley, has played and started in 14 games with 1109 minutes logged this season. She has two goals and four points for the season, while she has registered nine shots (.222) and five on goal (.556).
For her career, the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., native, has played in 59 matches with 38 starts. She has recorded four goals with two assists for ten points, while recording 22 shots (.182) with 12 on target (.545) and logged 3320 minutes.
As for the specialty awards, West Florida's Mya Swinton was named Offensive Player of the Year, while Lee's Kate Dirkse was named Defensive Player of the Year. West Georgia's Katherine Hagans earned Freshman of the Year honors, while UWF head coach Joe Bartlinski was named Coach of the Year.
The Blazers, who are the No. 6-seed in the upcoming Gulf South Conference postseason tournament, travel to No. 3-seed Mississippi College Saturday afternoon (Nov. 4) at 2 p.m. ET in the quarterfinal round of the championship.
