Blazer Baseball’s Raiden Earned GSC Weekly Honors

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State baseball team has the honor of highlighting junior pitcher Brandon Raiden as this week's Gulf South Conference pitcher of the week, announced by the league office Tuesday.

The Douglasville, Ga., native went 1-0 in two appearances with one start and one complete game shutout this week for the Blazers. He pitched a complete game shutout in an 11-0 victory in the rubber-match at West Florida on Sunday, marking his second start of the season.  Raiden allowed just two hits, walked one and fanned seven.  He also pitched two innings in the 10-6 victory at Saint Leo on Tuesday allowing one hit, walked one and fanned one.
 
For the week, Raiden boasted a 0.00 ERA, a 1-0 record with one complete game shutout, nine innings pitched, three hits allowed, walked two and fanned eight as the opposition hit .097 against him.

On the season, Raiden has thrown 49.2 innings and tallied 36 strikeouts while giving up 46 hits, 25 runs, 13 free passes, and two hits-basemen. Currently, Raiden has six wins and a 2.72 ERA for second highest on the team and in the GSC.

The Blazers are back in action, Wednesday April 27, for their last regular season game against Flagler College at 6 p.m., at Billy Grant Field at Tommy Thomas Park.
