BIRMINGHAM. Ala. – Valdosta State men's basketball senior Imoras Agee was named Gulf South Conference East Division Player of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. This marks the third time Agee has received Player of the Week.
 
Agee, a native of Linden, Ala., went a blistering 16 for 34 from the field (.471), sank five balls from deep, brought down 16 rebounds, and dished out six assists over the Blazers weekend and season sweep against the West Florida Argonauts. He averaged 21.0 points on the week and recorded his third double-double of the season Saturday, Feb. 27, with 10 boards and 18 points. During Friday's matchup, the Argonauts controlled its lead for most of the game, but Agee made his way down the court to drill a three to make it a one-point game with four minutes left in the game. After West Florida made a jumper to put the deficit to three, Agee came right back and answered with another three to tie the game and give the Blazers the push to get the lead shortly after to secure the 84-76 win. During the final outing of the regular season, Agee recorded seven points and two rebounds during a crucial 13-0 run halfway through the second half which saw the Blazers go from being down 10 to pulling ahead by three. Agee brought down three straight defensive rebounds in the finals minutes which helped VSU extend its lead from three to nine, the edge it needed to close the game out and win 76-69.
 
Agee finished the regular season as the Blazers leading scorer with 17.7 points per game and 283 total points, along with 5.1 rebounds per game off 105 boards. Agee spent, on average, 31.8 minutes on the court each game and shot a scorching 105 for 229 (.459) from the field with 40 deep balls.
 
Agee and the Blazers are back in action Tuesday, Mar. 2, as it will compete in the Gulf South Conference Basketball Championship.
