VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State volleyball team returns home for its final four game matches of the 2018 regular season as it will play four matches in seven days, beginning Tuesday with Auburn Montgomery at 7 p.m. at The Complex.

Following the AUM match, VSU will host Georgia College in a makeup match from when it was postponed due to Hurricane Michael on Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by Senior Day Saturday at 1 p.m. versus rival West Georgia.  VSU concludes the home season next Tuesday at 6 p.m. versus West Florida.

Last weekend, the Blazers dipped out of conference play as they headed to Orlando for the Gulf South Conference/Sunshine State Conference Regional Crossover.  VSU dropped a 3-0 decision to Florida Southern on Friday afternoon and then went toe-to-toe with No. 6 Tampa, falling 3-1 to the Spartans.  On Saturday, VSU battled back from a 2-1 deficit for a 3-2 win over Nova Southeastern to end the tournament. Â

For the tournament, VSU hit .183 with 143 kills in 416 swings.  Junior
Katie McInnis led the team with 29 kills, while junior
Kayla Widera had 28 and senior
Chloe' Chubilleau added 27.  Widera hit a team-best .471 with two aces, 14 digs and recorded 12 total blocks with three solo blocks.  Sophomore Tammy Reyes-Perez had 119 assists with 10 kills and recorded one double-double with 17 digs and 38 assists versus Tampa.  Junior
Dariah Powell paced the team with 40 digs, while McInnis had 39 and Reyes-Perez added 32. Â

The Blazers are 12-14 overall and are 7-4 in GSC play.  VSU currently sits tied for fifth with Alabama Huntsville in the league standings. The Blazers have five conference matches remaining heading into the match Tuesday.  VSU also has the tiebreaker over UAH due to the head-to-head win earlier in the season in the chance the two teams are tied with the same conference record at the end of the regular season.Â

This season the Blazers are hitting .180 with 1106 kills in 3276 swings.  VSU has 170 aces, while committing 515 attack errors.  VSU has 1431 digs with 143.5 blocks, including 53 solo rejections. Â

Individually, Chubilleau leads the team with 247 kills in 737 swings, while freshman
Jessie Mooney is second with 198 kills and Widera is third with 174.  Senior
Lindsey Robinson leads the team in hitting at .267 and has 163 kills for the season.  Reyes-Perez leads the team with 926 assists and is second on the team in aces with 33. Chubilleau leads the team with 38 aces.Â

Defensively, freshman
Aurora Nero leads the team with 326 digs, while Chubilleau is second with 223 and Powell is third with 218.  Widera leads the team with 92 total blocks, with 28 solo rejections.Â

Auburn Montgomery is 9-17 overall and 0-11 in GSC play this season and has lost ten-straight matches dating back to a 3-0 win at Albany State on Sept. 25.  During the skid, the Warhawks have won a total of five sets. Â

VSU downed AUM 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-19) on Sept. 21, in Montgomery, Ala.  In the match, VSU had two double-doubles with Mooney registering 15 kills and 11 digs, while Powell had 10 kills and 16 digs.  In all, VSU had three players in double-digit kills for the match.  The Blazers hit .188 with 61 kills in 170 swings, while recording 9.5 blocks. Â
Sommer Rhea paced the Warhawks with 16 kills and 18 digs as AUM hit .110 with 39 kills in 155 swings.  AUM's last conference win came on Sept. 23, 2017, with a 3-2 home win over West Georgia.  The Warhawks are 1-26 all-time in GSC play and have lost 24-straight conference matchups.Â

VSU then hosts Georgia College on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the makeup match from the week of Hurricane Michael.  Georgia College is 11-9 overall and 4-4 in Peach Belt Conference play as the Bobcats are coming off a 3-1 loss at Flagler on Friday.  Georgia College in 2-2 in the month of October and had the match against VSU postponed, along with one against Albany State.  In the 20 matches this season, the Bobcats are averaging 12.1 kills per set, hitting .178, while recording 11.5 assists per set, 2.2 blocks per set and 0.8 aces per set, along with 18.6 digs per set.

On Saturday, VSU will host its annual Senior Day prior to the match versus West Georgia.  The Blazers have four seniors in 2018, including
Chelsea Chavers, McInnis, Robinson and Chubilleau. VSU will battle West Georgia at 1 p.m., as the Wolves handed VSU a 3-1 setback (25-21, 18-25, 20-25, 16-25) on Sept. 15 in Carrollton. Â

Following the three games this week, VSU will host West Florida on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. to close out the 2018 home slate.  The regular season will conclude at West Alabama and at Mississippi College (Nov. 2-3).Â
