LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Valdosta State volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2025-26 season the organization announced Thursday. 

The Blazers were one of only five programs from the Gulf South Conference to earn the award, along with Christian Brothers, Montevallo, West Alabama and West Florida.
 
Overall, 1,432 teams have earned the award for this past season, by maintaining a year-long grade-point average of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale. 

"It comes as no surprise that see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jamie Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."
 
VSU finished the 2025-26 academic year with a 3.20 cumulative team grade-point average in the Fall followed by a department high 3.64 GPA in the Spring semester.
