Three Blazer Volleyball Student-Athletes Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors ®

VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State volleyball team had three players named to the CSU Academic All-District Team® as selected by College Sports Communicators.  
 
Blazer seniors Katie Callenberger, Sabrina Oncins and Ava Young each were honored by CSC for their outstanding academic efforts.  Each were named to the Gulf South Conference Honor Roll each of their years at VSU.  This marks the first academic all-district honor for each of them at VSU.
 
They join 28 other student-athletes from the Gulf South Conference who earned Academic All-District honors® as selected by College Sports Communicators.  Among the GSC volleyball schools, all but Christian Brothers and The University of Alabama in Huntsville had student-athletes selected.
 
In order to be eligible to earn CSC Academic All-District recognition, a student-athlete must own a cumulative GPA above 3.50 and have significant athletic credentials. Additionally, athletes must have competed in 90 percent of their institution's matches or have started in at least 66 percent of its matches.
 
Nomination limits per institution are in place for each sport in which the CSC sponsors an academic all-district team. In the sport of volleyball, each school can nominate a maximum of four student-athletes.  Callenberger has a 3.81 grade-point average in health science, while Oncins has a 3.69 GPA in management and Young a 3.60 GPA in interior design.
