VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Valdosta State men's tennis team rolled on Saturday afternoon in NCAA South Region action with a dominating 8-1 performance over No. 13 Rollins at the VSU Tennis Courts in Valdosta, Ga.
Ramon Weil and
Gereon Heitmann kicked the day off with a convincing 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, followed by
Niklas Herbring and
Francisco Yim Kim's 8-6 win at No. 2.
Leo Blay and
Edward Nguyen capped off doubles action at No. 3 with an 8-2 win of their own to give VSU a 3-0 advantage heading into singles play.
Blay defeated Anton Bettink 7-5, 7-6 at No. 1 singles to keep the momentum going, before Yim Kim was edged out 3-6, 6-0, 10-4 at No. 2 by Patrick Sell.
VSU continued to roll at No. 3 with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 win for Herbring over Robin Marchione, and Heitmann stayed hot to defeat Adrian DiFelice 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4.
Weil smoked Malte Christensen at No. 5 with a 6-1, 6-0 win, and
Joachim Schemm closed out the day with a 6-7, 6-0, 11-9 win at No. 6.
The victory moved VSU up to 3-1 overall on the season, while Rollins fell to 1-2.
Blazer tennis continues next Friday with a home match against Barry, beginning at 2:00 p.m. in Valdosta, Ga.
