VALDOSTA, Ga. - The Valdosta State Blazers (4-1-1, 3-0 GSC) needed only one goal to triumph over the West Alabama Tigers and remain undefeated in GSC play on Saturday afternoon at the VSU Soccer Complex.
The Blazers worked fast as
Ella Scerbo connected with
Sarah Hudson to score what was the deciding goal in the second minute. The Harriman, New York native extended her scoring streak to four matches, having a goal in every match but one this season.Â
Adrienne Cardona-Colon stood all 90 minutes in goal, protecting the one goal lead for her first complete clean sheet of the season. The sophomore has gone 176 minutes over the last two matches without allowing a goal.
The victory gives the Blazers their first win over the Tigers since 2021, where they came away with a 3-1 victory.
Valdosta State is now tied with Lee University for possession of first place in the GSC standings with nine points and is currently riding a three match win streak.
The Blazers return to the pitch for another crucial GSC match against Spring Hill on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 6:00pm
