VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State Blazers (4-1-2, 3-0-1 GSC) battled to a draw with the Spring Hill College Badgers at the VSU Soccer Complex on Wednesday night.
The Blazers struck first in the fifth minute, as
Sarah Hudson continued her goal-scoring streak with a top shelf strike off a precise pass from
Kyndal Smith to put VSU in front 1-0.
For the rest of the half, both teams found difficulties finding the back of the net. Spring Hill had a shot in the 14th minute that was blocked by a Blazer defender. Then in the 20th minute, a shot that was on target was saved by
Adrienne Cardona-Colon, However, in the 30th minute, Cardona-Colon deflected a shot away, but it went right to a Badger attacker who tapped it in for the equalizer.
Coming out of the locker room from half, the Blazers earned a corner kick in the 47th minute, but could not capitalize on the opportunity. Later, Hudson had another good look at the goal, but the shot was saved by the Spring Hill keeper.
The two teams continued to battle as time ran out. Ending the match in a draw.
Hudson's goal gives her six on the season as she leads the GSC in points and is third in goals.
Valdosta State will return to play on the road, as they travel to Jackson, Tennessee for a match against Union University on Saturday, September 26th at 2:00pm.
