CLINTON, Miss. - Valdosta State (3-1-1, 2-0 GSC) blazed past Mississippi Christian 4-0 in their first conference road test of the season to remain unbeaten in GSC play.
Both teams were unable to get on to the board in the first half seeing minimal action with VSU having the only shot on target and each team with a pair of corners.
Kyndal Smith scored the opening goal for the blazers in the 65th minute after a corner kick from Michaela Mensah gave the Tallahassee native the perfect opportunity for the game winning header.
Just four and a half minutes later in the 70th minute Sarah Hudson continued her ways as the leading scorer with a rocket to the low right corner to double the Blazer advantage.
In the 80th minute, an unfortunate own goal by the Choctaws increased the VSU lead to 3-0.
VSU capped their scoring in the 85th minute with a goal from Faith Espino for the first in her collegiate career to bring the score to 4-0.
Adrienne Cardona-Colon stood in goal for 85 minutes while freshman Macy Pierce took the remaining minutes in goal. They posted the first clean sheet of the season.
Hudson's goal gives her 10 points on the season, putting her third in the GSC in points.
The Blazers will return home to face off against West Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 2:00pm at the Complex.
