DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Valdosta State Cheer team delivered an impressive performance in the DII All-Girl Intermediate Division at the NCA College National Championship this weekend, earning a third-place finish against a highly competitive national field. The NCA College National Championships have long been considered the premier competition for collegiate cheerleading and is held annually at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Blazers first took the stage for prelims late Friday night inside the Ocean Center Arena, posting a strong score of 93.6875. Valdosta State narrowly trailed Texas A&M International by just 0.0764 points, while Oklahoma Baptist held the top spot after day one.
Entering finals on day two, the Blazers where able to carry over their momentum matching their day one score securing their third-place finish. The score at the time was enough to place the Blazers in the top spot, however it was short lived as both Texas A&M International and Oklahoma Baptist were able to improve on their round one scores to claim the top two spots. Oklahoma Baptist took home the crown with a score of 96.6944.
"The girls have worked so hard and are continuing to rebuild the legacy that is Valdosta State Cheerleading," said head coach Desiree Hagan. "We are extremely proud of what they put on the floor this weekend. To be in the winner's circle in such a big, competitive division is an honor."
The third-place finish marks the program's best finish since its runnner-up finish in 2021, highlighting the continued rise of Valdosta State Cheer on the national stage.
