VALDOSTA, Ga. – Senior guard
Drew Mills capped a spectacular 2025-26 season by being selected to the All-Gulf South Conference First Team, recognizing one of the most consistent and dynamic offensive performers in the league.
Mills finished the season averaging 19.4 points per game, the result of an efficient scoring attack where he connected on 217 of 408 field goal attempts (.532), 18 of 67 three-pointers (.269) and 111 of 145 free throws (.766) across 766 total minutes played. He also contributed 168 rebounds (5.8 per game), 42 assists, 24 blocks and 18 steals, showcasing a complete impact on both ends of the floor.
Mills was a constant threat to take over games, posting five 30-point performances during the season: 31 points vs. Montevallo (Jan. 15) – Mills shot a blistering 14-of-19 (.737) from the field, pacing the Blazers offensively and showing his ability to score in a variety of ways around the basket. 31 points at Auburn Montgomery (Jan. 17) – On the road, Mills again poured in 31, going 14-of-21 (.667) and anchoring the Valdosta State attack with toughness and efficiency. A season high 36 points vs. West Florida (Jan. 31) – In arguably his most explosive performance, shooting 15-of-24 (.625) from the floor and 2-of-3 from deep, demonstrating his capacity to carry the offense. 35 points at AUM (Feb. 25) – Returning to Montgomery, Mills was 13-of-20 (.650) from the field, using his scoring prowess to help position the Blazers late in the regular-season schedule. 31 points at UAH (Mar. 2) – In the regular season finale, Mills delivered 31 points on 11-of-15 (.733) shooting and 8-of-10 from the free-throw line, a strong showing in the opening round of the GSC Tournament despite the loss.
After ending the season with 31 points and two season at VSU, Mills became the 27th player to eclipse 1,000 career points at VSU. Heading into the game, Drew was sitting at 986 points and now finishes his senior season and career at Valdosta State with a total of 1,017 points.
Mills' scoring consistency made him one of the most feared offensive players in the Gulf South Conference. With a true scoring average near 20 points per game, efficient field goal percentages, and the ability to step up in big moments — particularly the games listed above where his scoring was pivotal — he was a matchup nightmare for defenders.
But it wasn't just scoring. Mills' rebounding (nearly six boards per game) and defensive presence — including 24 blocks on the season — illustrated a player who contributed in every phase of the game. His leadership and productivity helped Valdosta State secure a strong position in the conference and enter the postseason with momentum.
Earning All-GSC First Team honors is a fitting reward for Mills' senior season. His combination of scoring efficiency, rebounding from the guard spot, and all-around contributions set him apart in one of collegiate basketball's toughest Division II leagues.
