VALDOSTA, Ga. – The No. 35-ranked Valdosta State women's tennis team posted a 4-3, come-from-behind victory over No. 26 Columbus State Wednesday in thrilling fashion.  VSU won the doubles point, but CSU built a 3-1 lead, before VSU roared back for the win.

The Blazers opened doubles play earning the team point as No. 2 duo of Charleigh Fay and Ivana Castillo Hurtado battled back to win 7-6 (7-4) to clinch the point.  CSU's top duo of Isabell Ek and Laura Pesickova won 6-4 over Lena Beckx and Milica Prokic, but Blazer duo of Kitti Nemeth and Carmelle Vial won 6-4 at No. 3, prior to the heroics on court two.

CSU leveled the match at 1-1 with a win from Pesickova at No. 5 defeating Vial 6-1, 6-1, and pushed the lead to 2-1 with a win at No. 1 as No. 49 Nikoline Gullacksen won 6-3, 6-3 over Beckx.  The Cougars took a 3-1 lead as Ek won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6, but the Blazers roared back with wins at No. 4 with Charleigh Fay winning 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) over Sofia Lauretti and No. 70 Ivana Castillo Hurtado winning 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 for a 3-3 score.

Coming down to the final match at the No. 2 spot, Prokic and Monkia Temkova were in a battle from the start as Prokic won the opening set 7-6, before holding a 6-5 lead in the second set as Temkova knotted the set at 6-6.  Going to a tiebreaker, Prokic had a lead at 4-3, but was assessed a game penalty as Temkova won 7-6 to send the match to a third and decisive set.

Temkova won the opening game of the final set as the players traded wins on serves for a 3-3 score.  Temkova had a couple of medical timeouts during the early portion of the set and Prokic took the lead 4-3 and went on for a 6-3 win as the Blazers won their third-straight match and snapped a ten-match skid dating back to Mar. 5, 2013.
