HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Valdosta State controlled the second half but could not overcome a two-goal deficit, falling 2-0 to University of Alabama in Huntsville on Saturday at Charger Park.
UAH's Carley White scored a pair of goals in the 18th and 23rd minutes to build the lead, and the Blazers were unable to answer.
Valdosta State managed just three shots in the first half while UAH took 10 and earned four corner kicks.
The Blazers pushed back after halftime, outshooting UAH 7-2 and winning four of the five corner kicks. Sarah Hudson led the effort with four shots, all in the second half, two of them on goal. Samantha Stauter and Jenni McIntosh also put shots on target, but UAH goalkeeper Kacey Powell saved all four attempts for the shutout.
Valdosta State finished with 10 shots, four on goal, and six corner kicks, against 12 shots and five corners for UAH.
Valdosta State returns to action Tuesday at Edward Waters in Jacksonville, Fla., at 3 p.m. ET. The Blazers then host Christian Brothers on Friday, Oct. 23, for Senior Day at 6 p.m. ET.
