JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Valdosta State got a goal from Anna Dandeneau and a steady all-around effort, but Edward Waters held on for a 2-1 win Tuesday at Nathaniel Glover Community Field & Stadium.
Dandeneau needed almost no time to make her mark. She checked in as a substitute in the 29th minute and scored just seconds later, finishing a play set up by Ameliah Dixon to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead. It was her third goal of the season.
Edward Waters tied it in the 43rd minute on a goal from Dadie Cherenfant, and the teams went to the break level at 1-1. Rose-Bertude Rosinvil put the hosts ahead in the 55th minute, and Valdosta State pushed to find an equalizer the rest of the way.
The Blazers were sharp when they got chances. Four of their five shots were on target, edging the hosts' three on goal. Natalie Ocampo put both of her shots on frame and played all 90 minutes in midfield, and Dixon tested EWU keeper Solange Brown early in the second half.
Alannah Zander went the full 90 minutes in goal for Valdosta State, with Kyndal Smith and Sydney Foy also playing every minute on the back line.
The Blazers (5-5-3, 4-3-2) return home to host Christian Brothers for senior day on Friday, Oct. 23, at 6 p.m.
