HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Valdosta State men's basketball heads back on the road on Thursday, Jan. 22, traveling to Huntsville, Ala., to face UAH in a Gulf South Conference matchup scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET inside Spragins Hall. Blazers then head to West Alabama to face the Tigers Saturday, Jan. 24th at 4 pm ET.
The Blazers enter the road trip looking to continue building momentum as conference play moves into the heart of the schedule. VSU has shown the ability to score in a variety of ways, relying on balanced offensive production, depth, and pace to stay competitive in GSC action.
Valdosta State and UAH met earlier this season on Dec. 6, 2025, with the Blazers earning a dramatic 93–91 victory in Valdosta. In that match up, VSU delivered a strong offensive performance and executed in the closing moments, using timely baskets and defensive stops down the stretch to secure the two-point win. The victory marked one of the Blazers' signature conference performances of the season and set the stage for a competitive rematch in Huntsville.
In the previous match up, six Blazers were in double figures and four starters as Mills finished with 18 points and seven rebounds on 6 of 12 from the field, 1 of 3 from deep and 5 of 7 from the line. McKey added 16 points and five rebounds off the bench on 6 of 13 from the field, while he was a team-best 3 of 8 from deep and 1 of 2 from the line.
Valdosta State will look to set the tone early against a UAH team known for its physicality and defensive discipline, particularly on its home floor. Controlling the tempo, limiting second-chance opportunities, and executing efficiently on both ends of the floor will be key points of emphasis for the Blazers.
Thursday night's match up presents another opportunity for Valdosta State to test itself in a challenging road environment and continue its push in the Gulf South Conference standings. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET as the Blazers look to put together a complete performance in Huntsville.
Following their match up versus UAH, the Blazers will travel to play West Alabama, in a match up where the Blazers lost the first meeting 100-92. West Alabama, a team that traditionally plays well at home and will look to control the pace with physical defense and disciplined half-court execution. For Valdosta State, establishing rhythm early, protecting the basketball, and converting scoring opportunities in transition will be key factors against the Tigers.
