Chase Long completed the first round of the 2025 NCAA Division II Men's Golf South/Southeast Super Regional Thursday on the par 72, 6,960-yard Mission Inn Resort El Campeon course.
Long earned a spot in the super regional as an individual, marking the first Blazer to qualify for the NCAA postseason since 2022 when former Blazer Wesley Hanson as that year the regional was held at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta. Long joined Eric Boutwell of Montevallo, Gray Campbell of Union and Reggie Fear of Eckerd comprise the individuals from the South Region, while Asmund Norum of King (Tenn.), Laurenz Meifels of Erskine (S.C.), Simon Wright of Anderson (S.C.) and Jamie Markwick also of Anderson comprised the individuals from the Southeast Region.
On Thursday, Long carded an 84 as he will tee off Friday for the second round at 1:20 p.m. ET with Marwick and Paul Esnault of Catawba. Long finished the opening round with ten pars and five bogeys, along with two double bogeys.
The Blazers, as a team, narrowly missed the regional as No. 10 Florida Southern leads the field after the first round with an 8-under 280, while No. 13 Columbus State is second at 4-under 284. No. 4 North Georgia is third at 3-under 285, while No. 9 USC Aiken is fourth at 1-under 287. No. 7 Lee shot an even par 288 for fifth.
