INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Valdosta State men's golf senior
Chase Long learned Friday evening he qualified for the NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional as an individual, the NCAA announced.
Long, a native of Stockbridge, Ga., became the first Blazer to qualify for the NCAA postseason since former Blazer Wesley Hanson qualified for the regional in 2022 which was hosted by VSU at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Valdosta.
For this year's field, Long, Montevallo's Eric Boutwell, Union's Gray Campbell and Eckerd's Reggie Fear qualified at individuals from the South Region, while Asmond Norum of King (Tenn.), Laruenz Meifels of Erskine and a pair of student-athletes from Anderson in Simon Wright and Jamie Markwick qualified as individuals from the Southeast Region.
The NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional will be played May 8-10, 2025, at Mission Resort Golf Club in Howie-in-the-Hills, Fla. The 20 teams who qualified included ten from the South Region and ten from the Southeast Region. West Florida, Lee, Florida Southern, Rollins, Nova Southeastern, Barry, Saint Leo, Palm Beach Atlantic, Embry-Riddle and Spring Hill College from the South Region with UWF, Florida Southern and Spring Hill earning automatic berths from winning their conference titles.
From the Southeast Region, North Georgia, Lincoln Memorial, Georgia Southwestern, USC Aiken, Columbus State, Wingate, Lander, Lenoir-Rhyne, Flagler and Barton qualified with LMU, USCA and Barton winning their conference titles.
The top seven finishing teams and the top two individuals from non-advancing teams will qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championship scheduled for May 19-23 at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
