VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State sophomore
Natalie Rainke and freshman
Alyssa Novoa were named to the All-Gulf South Conference First and Second Teams, respectively, the conference office announced Wednesday evening.
Rainke, a native of Srubec, Czech Republic, earned first team all-league honors last season. She is 15-7 this year in singles and is 12
th nationally, while she is 10-11 this year in doubles. In the spring, Rainke is 10-6 in singles and went 5-3 in GSC play, while she is 7-8 in doubles and 2-5 in GSC play.
For her career, Rainke is 25-19 in singles and has gone 11-6 in GSC play, while she is 26-20 in doubles for her career and 7-8 in league play. This season, Rainke has earned GSC Player of the Week honors once.
Novoa, a native of Apopka, Fla., has had an impressive opening campaign this season for the red and black. She is 11-7 in singles this year and is 59
th nationally, while she is 9-8 in doubles. For this spring, Novoa is 7-6 in singles and 6-2 in GSC play, while she is 6-9 in doubles and 2-5 in league play.
Lee's Ashleigh Simes was named GSC Player of the Year, while West Alabama's Alexa Milliam earned GSC Freshman of the Year and UWA head coach Jeff Beaman was named Women's Coach of the Year.
The Blazers open Gulf South Conference Championship play Thursday morning at 11 a.m. ET against No. 2-seed Mississippi College in Montgomery, Ala., at O'Connor Tennis Center.
