VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's golf team posted a 4-0 win over visiting Tampa Sunday afternoon at the VSU Tennis Complex.
The Blazers improved to 5-11 on the year, while Tampa fell to 2-15. VSU opened the match with a sweep in doubles as seniors
Kayla Greco and
Valentina Jimenez won at No. 3, 6-2, while senior
Viktoriia Fedorova and sophomore
Natalie Rainke won 6-2 at No. 2 and freshman
Alyssa Novoa teamed with senior
Olivia Pezo won 6-4 at No. 1.
In singles, Jimenez won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6 over Regina Davalos, while Greco downed Sophie Wagner 6-1, 6-2 and Rainke, ranked No. 26 nationally, completed a strong week winning 6-1, 7-5 over Nicole Ciemiak for the win.
The Blazers return to action on Tuesday at No. 5 Embry-Riddle at 2 p.m., before returning home to host No. 33 Georgia College on Friday for Senior Day at 2 p.m. at the VSU Tennis Complex to close the regular season.
