VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to No. 34 Florida Southern Saturday afternoon at the VSU Tennis Complex.
 
The Blazers fell to 4-11 on the year, while Florida Southern improved to 14-4.  FSC won all three doubles matches for the early lead.  VSU duo of senior Viktoriia Fedorova and sophomore Natalie Rainke battled to the end with FSC duo of Emily Jennewein and Ronja Scheurmann, falling 6-4 in the final match.
 
In singles, FSC won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6 as Kelly Klaren defeated senior Valentina Jimenez at No. 6, 6-3, 6-0, for a 2-0 lead.  Jennewein defeated senior Kayla Greco at No. 5, 6-3, 6-3, for a 3-0 lead and clinched the match as No. 11 Olivia Bryant won 6-4, 6-4 over No. 26 Rainke at the top spot.  Senior Olivia Pezo was leading 3-0 in the third set at No. 3 over Scheuremann after they had split the first two sets with Scheuremann winning the first 6-3 and Pezo winning the second 6-4.  Freshman Alyssa Novoa was tied 6-6 in the second set over Beatriz Costa after Costa won the first 6-2. 
 
The Blazers return to the road on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at No. 5 Embry-Riddle, before returning home to host No. 33 Georgia College on Friday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day and the final regular season match of the season.
