VALDOSTA, Ga. - The freshman duo of Krisley Arnold and Julien Doitteau have been named this week's Steel's Jewelry Athletes of the Week.

Freshman Krisley Arnold hit .455 on 5 of 11 from the dish with two runs scored, one double, two home runs and three RBI as VSU went 2-1 at UAH this past weekend.  Arnold slugged 1.091 and reached base at a .500 clip with no strikeouts and was hit by a pitch once.  She had four putouts in six chances with no errors.  She currently has a three game hitting streak and has reached base safely in five-straight games currently. Softball is currently 8-11 overall and 4-4 in GSC play and play host to West Alabama starting on Saturday, Mar. 8 at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader followed by a single game on Sunday, Mar. 9 at 1 p.m.

Julien Doitteau went 1-0 with a singles win at No. 6 with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Barry's Leo Caill as the top-ranked Blazers downed No. 5 Barry 6-1.  Doitteau is 3-0 this spring in singles, going 2-0 at No. 5 and 1-0 at No. 6. The No. 1 VSU men's tennis team is currently 5-0 and hosts Lander today at 2 p.m. followed by No. 2 West Florida on Friday, Mar. 7 at 2 p.m. at the VSU tennis courts.
