VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State men's basketball senior Carlos Hart has been named to the All-GSC First Team, announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

The senior from Miami, Fla. was selected to the first team along with Alabama Huntsville's Blake Campbell and Tommy Murr, Trevecca Nazarene's Jalen Page, and Delta State's Chris Terrell. UAH had two players named to the second team as Luke Burnett and Daniel Saylor got the nods with Montevallo's Jaylen Curry and Brandon Fussell being selected with TNU's Jikari Johnson finishing up the All-GSC Second Team.

Head coach Mick Hedgepeth of UAH was named GSC Coach of the Year with his guard Tommy Murr being named GSC Player of the Year. Union's Judson Bjornstead was named GSC Freshman of the Year as they had a Freshman of the Year last year in Jordan Pyke.

Carlos Hart is the first Blazer named to the All-GSC First Team since Imoras Agee and Burke Putnam were selected back in 2020-21. Hart is the 18th Blazer named to the first team under head coach Mike Helfer since 2005-06.

On the season, Hart set the single season record for free throws made in a season with 174 and is two off of trying the single season record for free throws attempted as he is currently sitting at 224 with Tyrone Curnell holding the record with 226 attempts back in 2009-10. Hart tied Curnell's record of most free throws made in a game when he hit 16 back on Nov. 8 versus Fort Valley State. Hart has also tied the single season record for most steals in a season at 74 that was set by Patrick Diop back in 2012-13.

Hart leads VSU in four major statistical categories as he led them in points at 18.8 PPG, rebounds at 6.6 RPG, assists with 3.9 APG, and steals with 2.6 SPG. The guard is shooting a 168-336 (.500) from the field, 16-62 (.258) from deep, and 174-224 (.777) from the charity stripe.

Hart scored a season high 32 points at Christian Brothers on Feb. 24 and has surpassed 20 points 14 times this year while playing in 28 games and starting in 27 of them. Hart ranks top ten in the GSC in many categories as he is seventh in points per game, ninth in rebounds per game, seventh in field goal percentage, fifth in assists per game, and second in total steals and steals per game as he is a total do it all player.
