VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State freshman infielder Krisley Arnold was named Gulf South Conference Softball Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.  This is the first weekly honor for Arnold and the first for the Blazers this spring.
 
Arnold, a native of Adel, Ga., hit .455 on 5 of 11 from the dish in a crucial series win at Alabama Huntsville last weekend.  She scored two runs, hit one double, two home runs and drove in three.  Arnold slugged 1.091 and reached base at a .500 clip with no strikeouts and was hit by a pitch once.  She had four putouts in six chances with no errors and currently has a three-game hitting streak and has reached base safely in five-straight games.
 
She and the Blazers host West Alabama in another important GSC series, Mar. 8-9 at Steel's Diamond at Blazer Park.  Saturday's doubleheader is set for a 1 p.m. start, followed by a single game on Mar. 9 at 1 p.m.
