Gano Named to NFCA Division II Player of the Year Watchlist

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State senior infielder Aniston Gano was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Player and Pitcher of the Year Watchlist, the organization announced Thursday.
 
Gano, a native of Lakeland, Ga., is one of ten players from the Gulf South Conference to be named to the watchlist from the South Region.  This season, Gano is 13th nationally and tops in the GSC in batting average at a .483 clip, while she is fifth in the league in hits (43) and leads the GSC in home runs with ten for 16thnationally.  Gano has 56 career home runs, tying her for fourth all-time in program history.  She is reaching base at a .588 clip for tenth nationally to lead the league, while she is slugging .854 for second in the GSC and 20th nationally.  Gano leads the GSC in RBI's with 34 for 38th nationally, while she is 18th nationally in walks per game at a 0.77 clip for tops in the league.  
 
The Blazers host No. 24 Mississippi College in a key, Gulf South Conference series beginning Friday at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader, followed by a single game Saturday at 12 p.m. at Steel's Diamond at Blazer Park. MC's standout pitcher Camryn Bailey, along with catcher Blakely Gill also were named to the watchlist.
