VALDOSTA, Ga. – For the second-straight week, Valdosta State senior infielder Aniston Gano has been named Gulf South Conference Softball Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.  This also marks the third-straight week VSU has earned GSC Player of the Week honors.

Gano, a native of Lakeland, Ga., put together another outstanding week helping lead VSU to its third-straight GSC series sweep and a season-best ten-straight wins.  She drove in seven runs, scored three and went 6 for 9 from the dish (.667) in the series sweep of Montevallo.  Gano opened the series 3 for 4 with two RBI and completed the Saturday twin bill sweep with a 2 for 3 effort with a home run.  In Sunday's finale, Gano tallied two RBI, her second home run of the week and drew two walks.  For the week, she slugged 1.333 and reached base at a .727 clip.

The Blazers play a doubleheader Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Georgia Southwestern, before returning home to host a key GSC series against No. 24 Mississippi College at Steel's Diamond at Blazer Park with a doubleheader scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday and a single game Sunday also at 12 p.m.

Gano, along with senior Carly Bogart, graduate student Claire Maulding and freshman Krisley Arnold all have won GSC weekly honors this season.
