VALDOSTA, Ga. – The Valdosta State Blazers will continue their homestand with a weekend series against the Montevallo Falcons on Friday, Mar. 21 at 5 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 22 starting at 12 p.m.

The Blazers have won two straight games with a game three win at No. 12 Delta State on Sunday before beating Columbus State on Tuesday night at Billy Grant Field.
The Falcons scored a program record 33 runs on Wednesday as they defeated Miles College by a final of 33-1 in Montevallo, Ala. UM blasted six home runs and drove in 30 while batting .591 as a team which were both program records.
Montevallo is 14-13 on the year as they are 7-8 in GSC play while being 4-4 on the road. UM is led by head coach Chandler Rose, who is in his 15
th season at the helm of the program and is 386-316 during his time in Montevallo. The Falcons are just ahead of the Blazers in team batting average in the league as they are hitting .305 to .302. UM has a 5.60 ERA as a team as they are ranked seventh in the GSC compared to VSU's 5.37 which is fifth. Individually, Connor Crowson leads the league in batting average with a .446 clip on 50 hits. Crowson is also slugging .759 on nine home runs and 31 RBI which are all top three in the league. We will most likely see left hander Adiel Melendez this weekend, who is 5-2 in seven starts and holds an ERA of 2.25 which is fourth in the GSC. Melendez is holding opponents to a .214 batting average in 44.0 innings pitched.
The Blazers are 15-12 on the season and sit in the third place in the GSC with a record of 10-4. Head coach Jan Weisberg is in his first has boasted one of the best offenses in the GSC with them being first in runs, doubles, and RBI. Third baseman
Orlando Pena leads the league in RBI with 35 and is tied for the lead in home runs with nine. At the top of the order,
Pedro Moreno has been swinging a hot stick after starting out slow as the shortstop is second on the team in hits with 36 and is second in the GSC in runs scored at 31. Starter
Hunter Booth will look to bounce back after a rough start on Friday as he got rocked for seven earned runs in 1.2 innings against a strong Delta State squad.
Drake LaRoche was able to pick up his team leading fourth win as he tossed seven strong innings in a 7-5 win on Saturday.
Following the weekend series, VSU will host Georgia College on Tuesday, Mar. 25 at 5 p.m. before hosting Mississippi College next weekend to wrap up the homestand.
