No. 32 Blazers Finish Tenth at Saint Leo Invitational

DADE CITY, Fla. – The No. 32 Valdsota State men's golf team fired a final round 306 to finish tenth at the 2025 Saint Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.  The host Lions won the 18-team tournament with a 9-under 855 score.
 
The Blazers, who opened the tournament with a 295 score Monday in the first round, followed with a 279 tying the second lowest round score in program history.  The Blazers struggled on Tuesday finishing with a 306 for an 878 score. 
 
No. 8 Lee finished second at 7-under 857, followed by No. 12 Florida Southern at 859. No. 43 Barry and No. 19 Rollins tied for fourth at 4-under 860.  No. 23 Nova Southeastern finished sixth at even par 864, while No. 44 Palm Beach Atlantic finished seventh at 866 and No. 42 Montevallo was eighth at 874.  Carson-Newman finished ninth at 877, finishing one stroke better than VSU (878).
 
No. 5-ranked Colton Swartz of Florida Southern took home medalist honors with a 10-under 206.  Carson-Newman's Elliot MacGregor finished second at 8-under 208, while Jorge Berea of Nova Southeastern was third at 7-under 209.  Blazer senior Chase Long fired a final round 77 to go along with a 68 and 67 to finish tied for fifth with a 4-under 212 score.
 
For the Blazers, senior Parker Highsmith tied for 22nd with an ever par 216 score on rounds of 73, 69, 74.  Sophomore Adam Waller finished tied for 42nd with a 221 score on rounds of 76, 68 and 77.  Senior Brandon Cho fired a final round 77 to finish tied for 69th with a 230 score (78, 75, 77).  Sophomore Landon Bassford tied for 75th with a 232 score on rounds of 78, 78 and 76.  
 
The Blazers return home to prepare to host the Southeastern Collegiate, Mar. 10-11 in Valdosta at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
