VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State senior women's basketball standout Aryana Hicks and men's basketball junior Blaise Wallace were named Steel's Jewelry Blazer Athletes of the Week.
 
Hicks, scored 18 points on 9 of 14 from the field with eight assists against Georgia Southwestern on Nov. 19 as it marked a season-high in made field goals and points.  She tied her season-high with the eight assists. For the season, Hicks is shooting 18 of 33 from the field (.545) and 7 of 9 from the line, while averaging 3.3 rebounds per game.  She has 21 assists (7.0 apg.) with seven steals and 14.3 points per game.
 
Wallace turned in another solid performance at Middle Georgia also on Nov. 19.  He went 8 of 11 from the field, 4 of 7 from the line and grabbed 11 rebounds with two assists and two steals.  It marked his third-straight double-double to begin the season.  For the year, Wallace is 16 of 27 from the field (.593), 16 of 25 from the line (.640) and is averaging 14.0 rebounds per game, along with 16.0 points per game.  
 
The Blazers host Middle Georgia this evening at 7 p.m. at The Complex, before the Thanksgiving break and then will travel to Embry-Riddle for a 2 p.m. tip on Saturday, Nov. 29.  The Lady Blazers travel to Lynn University on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m., before hosting No. 9 Embry-Riddle on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. at The Complex.
