WEST POINT, Miss. – The Valdosta State men's golf team sits just two strokes from the lead through 36-holes at The Dunning Invitational, heading into tomorrow's final round. VSU carded rounds of 281 and 294 for a 575 score and sit third behind Midwestern State (573) and UT Tyler (574).
VSU fired a 7-under 281 to lead the field through the first round and was as many as 11-under in the second round, but struggled down the stretch to finish 6-over on the par 72, Mossy Oak Golf Club Monday.
Midwestern State shot an even round 288, while UT Tyler fired a pair of 287s. Fort Lewis (587) sits fourth, while host Delta State rallied in the second round for a 5-under 283 after opening with a 305 (588). Mississippi College sits sixth (592), followed by Montevallo (593), Henderson State (598), Arkansas-Monticello (611) and Loyola (La.) and Christian Brothers are tied for tenth at 615. Gulf South Conference newcomer Trevecca Nazarene is 12
th at 617, followed by Spring Hill College (636) and LeMoyne-Owen is 14
th at 741.
The teams will begin the final round at 10:30 a.m. ET. Midwestern State's Seth Bearden leads the field with an 11-under 133, while Fort Lewis' Jordan Jennings is second at 5-under 139. Mississippi College's Jeffery Lebeau is third at 4-under 140, while there is a three-way tie for fourth including VSU junior
Elad Sebbag at 3-under 141. Sebbag carded rounds of 68 and 73. His 68 to open the tournament was tied for the third-lowest round of the day. Both Bearden and Delta State's Zach Olsen, who is tied for seventh at 2-under 142, each carded rounds of 66. Sebbag is playing in his first tournament of the season for VSU.

Joshua Burki is ninth with a 1-under 143 on rounds of 69 and 74, while senior
Parker Highsmith carded round of 73 and 72 for a 145 and is 11
th. Sophomore
Alexander Nilehn sits tied for 15
th at 146 on rounds of 71 and 75, while senior
Brandon Cho is tied for 29
th with a pair of 75s for a 150 score.
