PENSACOLA, Fla. – The No. 35 Valdosta State women's tennis team downed Delta State 7-0 on Friday afternoon in Pensacola, Fla. VSU improved to 5-7 on the year and 4-1 in Gulf South Conference play, while Delta State fell to 2-9 overall and 2-7 in league play.
VSU swept the doubles point as juniors
Olivia Pezo and
Kayla Greco won by forfeit at No. 3 and freshman duo of
Aneta Poborilova and
Natalie Rainke won 6-2 over Adriana Subias and Weronika Kaczmarska at No. 2 to clinch the team point. Freshman Denisa and junior
Viktoriia Fedorova won 6-3 at No. 1 for the sweep.
Sophomore
Evelyn Altmaier won by forfeit at No. 6 for a 2-0 lead, while Rainke won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 over Marie Guillaume for a 3-0 lead and Pezo clinched the win at No. 5 with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Isabella Llano. Poborilova won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 over Subias, while Greco downed Kaczmarska 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4 and Hanakova won 6-4, 6-3 over Marie Caride at No. 2 for the sweep.
