sVALDOSTA, Ga.- Junior Abby Sulte was placed on the 2024 Tucci/NFCA D2 Player/Pitcher of the Year Watchlist, announced by the NFCA on Thursday. The list is broken down into eight NCAA regions with 15 players in each as Valdosta State falls into the south region. Voted on by the NFCA's Division II All-American Committee, the 2024 Tucci/NFCA Player and Pitcher of the Year will be announced on May 27, following the NCAA Division II National Championship.

Sulte has bolstered an astonishing season for the Blazers so far, batting .386 at the plate for 42 runs on 39 hits with two doubles, 22 home runs and 49 RBI. Her 22 home runs are good for first in the nation while also ranking first in the nation in home runs per game, cracking 0.67 per contest. She currently ranks fourth in Valdosta State history in home runs in a single season while she is just five away from tying Courtney Albritton's leading 27 (2014). She is also tied for seventh in Gulf South Conference history in the category.

The Valdosta State softball team will be back in action this weekend when it heads to Montevallo, Ala. to take on the Montevallo Falcons in a three-game GSC series. The series kicks off with a doubleheader on Friday, Mar. 29 at 4 p.m. ET with the third and final game taking place on Saturday, Mar. 30 at 1 p.m. ET.
