Blazer Men’s Golf Heads to Bobcat Invitational Monday and Tuesday

VALDOSTA, Ga. – Coming off the 33rd Annual First Federal Southeastern Collegiate this past week, the Valdosta State men's golf team heads to Eatonton, Ga., for the 2024 Bobcat Invitational hosted by Georgia College on the par 70, 6,701-yard Cuscowilla Golf Club.  
 
The field will play 36-holes Monday and 18-holes on Tuesday to conclude the tournament.  This year's field includes the host Bobcats of Georgia College, USC Aiken, North Georgia, Barry, Coker, Saint Leo, Florida Southern, West Florida, Georgia Southwestern, Columbus State, Clayton State, Lander, Nova Southeastern, Valdosta State and Rollins.
 
For the Blazers, freshman Adam Waller again is in the top spot in the lineup, following another outstanding finish at the Southeastern Collegiate where he finished tied for fifth with a 3-under 213 score and a final round 68.  He earned GSC Freshman of the Week honors for the second time this spring and has earned GSC Co-Player of the Week accolades once thus far.  Waller enters with a 71.9 stroke average in three tournaments this spring.  Freshman Alexander Nilehn is second in the lineup, followed by sophomore Ty Folsom, junior Brandon Cho and sophomore Joshua Burki rounds out the lineup.   
 
For the Southeastern Collegiate, VSU finished 11th and fired the final round 286 on Tuesday after opening with a 294 and 293 on Monday.  Nilehn finished tied for 17th with a 216 score on rounds of 72, 74 and 70.  Cho (221/T-45), junior Parker Highsmith (229/T-77) and junior Chase Long (229/T-77) completed the Blazer lineup. Folsom finished tied for 13th as an individual with a 1-under 215 on rounds of 68, 72 and 75, while Burki also played as an individual and tied for 59th with a 224 score on rounds of 76, 76 and 72.  
 
Last season, the Blazers finished 14th at the Bobcat Invitational as it was shortened to 36-holes due to inclement weather.  Burki is the only player to have competed in the tournament last season, finishing tied for 61st with a 153 score on rounds of 75 and 78.
