Blazer Men's Basketball Ranked by NABC

VALDOSTA, Ga. – For the first time in over three seasons, the Valdosta State men's basketball team is nationally ranked, announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Tuesday morning.
 
The Blazers check-in at the No. 25 spot as they are tied with Cal Poly Pomona with 24 votes apiece. Alabama Huntsville is the only other GSC team ranked, as the Chargers are ranked No. 6 as they jumped seven spots from the last poll.
 
Nova Southeastern is sitting comfortably at the one spot, as they are 11-0 on the season with a win over Alabama Huntsville back on Nov. 8.

The Blazers are currently riding a three-game winning streak heading into 2025, as they swept their most recent homestand with wins over West Florida, Trevecca Nazarene, and Lee.
 
Head Coach Mike Helfer is used to being ranked, as he has led the Blazers to eight NCAA Tournament appearances to go along with seven Gulf South Conference regular season titles during his 20 years in Titletown. Helfer has accumulated an overall record of 370-193 (.657) which is second all-time in VSU history.
 
Valdosta State will open the calander year on the road, as they travel to the Magnolia State to take on Mississippi College on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 8:30 p.m. ET followed by a matchup at Delta State on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 5 p.m. ET.
